ARROWHEAD:
Home of the Chiefs

By Michael McKenzie
Foreword by Lamar Hunt

Before the Chiefs' Monday Night game at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Coach Marty Schottenheimer, a bundle of football emotion, shouted, "Great rivalry in the greatest venue for football in America."
And so it goes in Arrowhead: Home of the Chiefs - a monument to imaginative and aesthetic sports arena architecture, still after 25 seasons. While other arenas of its era are being replaced, Arrowhead continues to draw compliments as the best there is for football. Relive 25 years of Kansas City Chiefs football history in
Arrowhead: Home of the Chiefs, the official history of the Kansas City Chiefs and Arrowhead Stadium.

The Tigers and Their Den:
The Official Story of the Detroit Tigers

by John McCollister

The official story of the Detroit Tigers is jam-packed with a cast of characters that would be a Hollywood screenwriter's dream. There was the puritanical owner who spurned cigars and booze, but took every opportunity to con an unsuspecting novice in a game of high-stakes poker. Some of the most feisty Tiger players could start a fight if they were alone in a phone booth. And who could ever forget the rookie pitcher who talked to baseballs?

The Tigers and Their Den recalls these stories and plenty more. The setting for all these fond memories was a site bordered by Kaline Drive, Cochrane Avenue, Michigan Avenue and Trumbull Avenue in the heart of Detroit. The name of the ballpark changed over its 104 years of service, but the rules remained the same: sit back, relax and enjoy the game. You never know what might happen next.

Eric Clapton :
Ad Campaign for the Pilgrim Tour 1998

I had the great honor and opportunity to have one of my photographs of Eric Clapton used in the national promotion of his Pilgrim Tour.

While shooting Clapton in 1994 on his "From the Cradle" Tour I had the chance to meet and chat with Clapton's Road manager. As we talked that night he asked if I would send him any contact sheets from what I shot that night. Natural I did that following week and as commonly happens I never really heard back. Well not right away.

Four years later I recieve a call from Clapton's people saying they would like to use one of my images for Lexus Motors to promote his upcoming tour. This image appeared in Rolling Stone, USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, Time, US News & World Report and a few other publications. Lexus also used it on their web site. It was quiet the honor and also the best money I every made on a single concert photo.

Paul McCartney :
"Paul is Live" CD and the 1993 New World Tour

This was and is my greatest honor as a concert photographer. I was, along with my studio partner at the time Gary Gingrich, asked to photograph the entire Paul McCartney tour from start to finish. All access! Photo session with Paul and the band! Everything!

There is just too much to remember about this project to write it all down. Buy me a drink sometime and I'll talk your ear off about it.
